New smart fortwo BRABUS - 30% more power

German automotive performance company Brabus regularly graces our pages, most notably by continually breaking its own record for the world’s fastest sedan. The name is synonymous with Mercedes and Smart performance tuning and the company’s latest effort involves the next generation Smart fortwo. With a reengineered 72 kW/98 bhp three cylinder turbo engine the smart fortwo BRABUS and the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive have 30 percent more power than before and still boast low fuel consumption. The sporty two-seater accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 km/h. Ex factory prices for the pocket rockets range from EUR16,490 (US$22,160) to EUR 22,430 (US$30,150) depending on the equipment line and body type.

The sporty character of the new smart fortwo BRABUS is immediately apparent. For example, it features "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels with wide tyres measuring 175/50 R 16 at the front and 225/35 R 17 at the rear, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system with centrally positioned stainless steel tailpipes and a body that has been lowered by ten millimetres. In the interior cockpit instruments with specially designed dials, BRABUS sports pedals and a three-spoke leather steering wheel with shift paddles underline the exclusiveness of this model. The transmission and suspension also have a sporty setup.

The smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive lives up to its name with additional equipment details such as H7 projection headlamps with titanium coloured surrounds, a front spoiler with enlarged air inlets, striking side skirts and a rear apron painted in the colour of the body. The seats are covered with fine leather and are heated. The leather-effect instrument panel features aluminium-look trim components.

Both BRABUS models of the new smart fortwo are available as a coupé or a cabrio.

The turbo engine that has been improved in numerous details is the heart of the new smart fortwo BRABUS. From capacity of one litre the three-cylinder engine now develops 72 kW/98 bhp at 5500 rpm and lends the 770 kilogram two-door car remarkable agility. The weight to power ratio is just 7.8 kg/bhp - 24 percent lower than that of the previous BRABUS variant.

The turbo in-line engine develops maximum torque of 140 Newton metres at 3500 rpm. The BRABUS variant of the smart fortwo sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 km/h.

With combined fuel consumption of just 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres the new smart fortwo BRABUS is one of the most economical cars in its size and power category. Carbon dioxide emissions stand at 124 grams per kilometre.

2007 Brabus B63 S for Mercedes-Benz 63 AMG Models

Even more power for all Mercedes 63 AMG models: BRABUS ( http://www.brabus.com/ ) presents its B63 S engine tuning, which boosts power output of the high-revving 6.2-liter V8 to 550 hp / 404 kW and peak torque to 650 Nm. With a sprint time from rest to 100 km/h of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h a CLS 63 AMG with B63 S tuning turns in performance worthy of a true super sports car.

The BRABUS power kit comprises newly programmed engine electronics with special mapping for injection and ignition. But that’s not all: The intake side features a sport air filter for improved supply of combustion air. The exhaust side features high-performance metal catalysts with low back pressure that also ensure that the tuned V8 engine meets stringent EURO IV emission limits.

In order to transfer the increased power to the road with minimum slip BRABUS recommends the BRABUS locking differential for all Mercedes 63 models with rear wheel drive. The diff lock has a locking rate of up to 40 percent.

The BRABUS B63 S performance kit is available for all Mercedes 63 AMG models. With 550 hp / 404 kW the ML 63 accelerates in 4.9 seconds from 0 -100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 275 km/h in combination with the BRABUS V/max unit.

This extraordinary performance represents a good argument for modifications to tires, suspension and brakes. Depending on the Mercedes 63 AMG model in question BRABUS offers custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations up to size 11Jx23 with tires up to 315/25 R 23 in size. To further improve the already excellent handling characteristics BRABUS has developed a control module for the ABC suspensions that lowers the ride height by some 20 millimeters. BRABUS sport stabilizers reduce body roll and optimize turn-in.

The BRABUS high-performance brake system offers stopping power and endurance normally only found in purebred sports cars. It is available for all Mercedes 63 AMG models, upon customer request even in a special version with ceramic discs. The front axle features 380 x 36 millimeter discs and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear axle is fitted with six-piston fixed calipers and 355 x 28 mm brake discs.

The list of BRABUS exclusive interior accessories ranges from genuine carbon-fiber trim and scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo to ergonomically shaped sport steering wheels and a speedometer with 360-km/h dial.

Upon customer request the company-own upholstery shop crafts especially exclusive BRABUS interiors from a combination of especially soft yet highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

Concurrent with the market introduction of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class BRABUS presents an exclusive sport program for the new sedan.

Highlights of the product lineup are the BRABUS 4.0 displacement engine with 332 hp / 244 kW for the V6 gasoline models, an elegant aerodynamic-enhancement program, light-alloy wheels with 20-inch diameter and corresponding suspensions, plus numerous individual interior options.

BRABUS is world-renowned for its powerful yet clean-burning displacement engines,
lubricated exclusively with ARAL motor oil. All tuning components and conversions are backed by the one-of-a-kind BRABUS Tuning Warranty? of three years up to 100,000 kilometers (see BRABUS warranty conditions as of June 2003).

For the new C 280 and C 350 models BRABUS offers its BRABUS 4.0 engine. By installing a special crankshaft and larger pistons displacement is increased to 4.0 liters. Additionally the four-valve cylinder heads are optimized for gas flow, and fitted with special camshafts. The conversion further includes a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts, and newly programmed engine electronics.

The impressive results of the conversion are a maximum power output of 332 hp / 244 kW and a peak torque of 420 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Thus equipped, the four-door delivers excellent performance: Just 5.9 seconds pass from 0 - 100 km/h, top speed is 275 km/h in combination with the BRABUS Vmax-Unit.

For the CDI models of the new C-Class BRABUS offers its PowerXtra performance kits. The list starts with the D2 (III) kit that increases power output of the C 200 CDI by 39 hp / 28.7 hp, and bumps peak torque to 385 Nm. The C 220 CDI with BRABUS D3 (III) kit delivers 195 hp / 143 kW of power and 450 Nm of peak torque. For the top-of-the-line turbodiesel model C 320 CDI there is the D6 (III) power kit. It delivers 48 hp / 35.3 kW of additional power and a peak torque of 590 Nm, turning the new C-Class into one of the world's sportiest diesel- powered cars with a 0 ? 100 km/h time of just 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

BRABUS stainless-steel quad sport exhaust systems are available for all engine variants.

More dynamics for the new C-Class also come from custom-tailored BRABUS tire/wheel
combinations with diameters of 17, 18, 19 and 20 inches and corresponding BRABUS sport
suspensions, lowering kits and sport sway bars. The largest wheels for the new C-Class are
BRABUS Monoblock VI, E and S light-alloy wheels in size 9Jx20 front and back, fitted with
tires is sizes 235/30 ZR 20 in front and 265/25 ZR 20 on the rear axle.

BRABUS high-performance brake systems are available for the W 204 model series in two
versions and offer maximum stopping power and endurance.

The BRABUS design team also went into the wind tunnel to develop aerodynamic-
enhancement components that not only look great but also offer maximum aerodynamic
efficiency. All parts are manufactured from high-quality PUR-Rim in OEM quality.

The sporty styled BRABUS front spoiler lends the C-Class a more characteristic appearance
with its generously dimensioned air inlets for improved supply of cooling air for radiators and
front brakes. It also minimizes lift on the front axle, thus improving directional stability at high
speeds. Four integrated auxiliary headlights further optimize active safety. BRABUS offers a
three-piece rear spoiler that serves as its aerodynamic counterpart in the rear.

Strikingly styled BRABUS rocker panels create perfect aerodynamic transitions between front

lights. For the outside mirrors BRABUS offers custom-tailored carbon-fiber covers.

BEST BRAND 2006 and BEST BRAND 2007: For the second time in a row the readers of Germany's leading automotive publication 'auto motor und sport' have voted BRABUS the best and most popular tuning brand.

A grand total of 100,782 readers participated in the poll that saw BRABUS repeat last year's victory by an even wider margin: 56.1 percent (2006: 55 percent) of participants listed BRABUS as the tuning company with the most convincing products, thus making it BEST BRAND 2007 in the 'Tuning' category.

"Winning this award a second time and winning it again convincingly is yet more confirmation that we at BRABUS develop, build and market excellent products," says BRABUS CEO Bodo Buschmann. "But winning this award is also obligation for my team and me to keep working hard on continuously exceeding the high expectations placed on us by our friends and customers."

What started in 2002 as a joint venture between smart and BRABUS has developed over the years into extremely successful cooperation in the field of vehicle tuning. The great popularity of the BRABUS variants of the smart shows the increasing customer interest in individualised cars. Together with BRABUS, smart will continue to round off its model range with even more exclusive models. BRABUS variants boast both exclusive equipment and greater engine power.

The smart fortwo BRABUS places the primary focus on sportiness. Its three-cylinder one litre petrol engine delivers 72 kW (98 bhp) and develops maximum torque of 140 Newton metres. The transmission has also been configured for this. The first and the fifth gears have different transmission ratios to the pure, pulse and passion and – given the light weight of just 780 kilos – this lends the two-seater remarkably lively agility and enables a maximum speed of 155 km/h (limited). The car sprints from zero to 100 km/h in less than ten seconds.

The exterior of the fortwo BRABUS is first and foremost characterised by sporty "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels. These have 5.5 inch rims with 175/50 R 16 tyres at the front and 7.5 inch rims with 225/35 R 17 tyres at the rear together with external-mounted fender flares in the colour of the body. Furthermore, the fortwo BRABUS boasts a sports exhaust with a specially grained rear apron and fog lamps.

Special BRABUS logos and lettering embellish the body in the following places: a logo in the right and left mirror triangles and on the front grille, and BRABUS lettering on the rear. The fuel filler flap features an embossed BRABUS double B symbol in chrome. Further features include a panoramic roof made of polycarbonate, electric windows, air conditioning with temperature control and the "softouch" automatic gear programme.

A smart fortwo BRABUS wouldn't be a BRABUS if the tuning specialist from Bottrop hadn't also turned its attention to the suspension. This consists of four sports shock absorbers and four coil springs with a BRABUS-specific characteristic. The suspension lowers the fortwo BRABUS by 10 millimetres and also provides for more agile and direct handling.

The interior is distinguished from that of normal fortwo models by a number of BRABUS styling features. These include a BRABUS metal gear knob, a polished metal hand-brake handle and sports pedals. The speedometer, rev counter and clock also bear the BRABUS signature and the gauges, colour and styling of the numbers and pointers are all designed by BRABUS.

The same range of exterior colours is available for the smart fortwo BRABUS as for other smart fortwo models. Both the coupe and the cabrio are available as BRABUS versions.

Brabus Widestar

GENEVA — Probably one of the most aptly named concepts at this week's Geneva auto show is the Brabus Widestar, a wide-track version of the Mercedes-Benz ML63. The German tuner, known for its breathtaking high-performance cars, says the Widestar package is available for all current M-Class models.

The tuned version of the ML63 takes the 510-horsepower V8 and fits it with sport air filters, high-performance metal catalysts and reprogrammed engine electronics. As a result, horsepower rises to 550 hp and peak torque grows from 465 to 479 pound-feet. The Widestar sprints from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 171 mph.

The Widestar gets new front and rear fascias and a front spoiler bumper with three air inlets and four integrated auxiliary headlights. The cabin features stainless steel doorsills with illuminated Brabus logos, a sport steering wheel and leather-covered door trim pieces. Options include an electric folding table and a high-performance brake system.
