2011 Corvette Concepts with Carbon number 01

With the huge success that the Corvette ZR1 has enjoyed since its return in 2009 many felt that Chevy would stop production of the Z06. Well those who thought that notion up were recently proven wrong in a big way as Chevy showed its commitment to the Corvette Z06. Chevy recently announced that later this summer the all new 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition will be made available. This special edition Vette is only going to go to 500 lucky individuals and it will of course bring all sorts of goodies with it.

The auction will be televised on Speed and if you are a Corvette fanatic you will not want to miss this piece of history when it hits the auction block. Though you may not be able to afford to bid on the first ever Corvette Carbon you can still get caught up in the thrill of all those who will be pushing the bid higher and higher.

Whoever does end up with Corvette Carbon number 01 will have a tough choice to make. Do they drive it around and enjoy all that is Corvette or do they simply make it into a show car and lovingly stare at it day after day? While the latter is probably best for retail purposes, driving it would be a lot more fun.

The New Corvette in SEMA show

There had been plans for a mid engine V8 arrangement but the Global Financial crisis has meant that plan is on hold (temporarily). For the V8 engine we will most likely see a reduction in cubic capacity to 5.5-liters and very possibly direct injection, along with an increase in the compression. Don't expect such technologies as over head camshafts.

Many enjoy keeping up with the latest of the 57 Corvette restorations at auction and for sale. Others enjoy Corvettes through 1996 where you can get information on the different versions C1 through C6.

Corvette LS3

I understand the thrill of the ride. It's exciting to be the first one off the line at a red light or be able to kick your car (or truck) into a higher gear to pass someone on the freeway, when you're already going 70 mph or more. Becoming one with your machine so all you have to do is listen to the sound of the engine to know when to shift to the next gear is something that maybe only 75% of Americans ever experience. But, is it worth the $85,000 price tag of a Callaway Corvette for that experience? I doubt it. There has to be something more to it.

The older Corvettes, those produced before 1984, show classic car looks and muscle. The newer models have muscle but fantastic handling and sporty looks. So you have a two seater car that can appeal to a wide range of people. There are always those looking for the unique two seat car.
