2007 Ford Edge
February was another good month for the Canadian-built 2007 Ford Edge as dealers report that buyers are driving away in the stylish crossover shortly after the new models arrive in their showrooms.
February Highlights:
- Ford Edge continues to grow sales with 420 sold in February
- Ford Escape – best selling small utility vehicle
- Ford Explorer up 13%
- Ford Explorer – best selling medium utility vehicle
- Ford Ranger has best February since 1990, up 34%
- Ford F-150 up 1%
- Ford F-Series – best selling pickup
- Ford Mustang – best selling sports car
- Lincoln Navigator sales up 27%
"With the year just underway, the Ford Edge continues to really make a connection with consumers, and there are more exciting new products coming," said Bill Osborne, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "We continue to demonstrate our leadership in trucks with the 2008 Ford Super Duty, which is currently arriving at dealerships, along with the new-look Ford Escape. The re-launch of an icon will be realized as the redesigned Ford Taurus and Ford Taurus X arrive in dealerships later this year."
In February, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, saw overall combined sales decrease 11.2 per cent at 13,502 units. And while total truck sales were down 6.2 per cent, the Ford Ford F-150, Ford Ranger and Ford Explorer all experienced sales increases last month. Car sales of 3,311 units marks a 23.7 per cent decline compared to the same month last year.
