In Detroit, the North American International Auto Show is officially open. Hundreds, thousands of people packed Cobo Hall for the public opening of this year's show. People came from all over, some came from mid-Michigan.
Attendee: "The Lansing area."
Some came from other states.
Attendee: "Pittsburgh out of all places."
And a few came from other countries.
Attendee: "We're from Montreal, Canada."
This year's auto show offers 90 exhibits with 70 new vehicles on display.
Attendee: "It's a vehicle for everyone to look at."
Attendee: "There's like excellent cars everywhere."
Of course everyone does have their favorites.
Attendee: "I like the Mitsubishi."
Attendee: "Ford Intercept."
One vehicle people in mid-Michigan should look out for is the 2008 Cadillac CTS.
Attendee: "The style, the lines in it, I think they updated it really nice."
The car will be built at the Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing.
Steve Lowney, DeWitt resident: "I'm very proud because it's going to be made in downtown Lansing, that's super, that's a dynamic car."
The auto show offers a lot for the public, and that's why people keep coming back.
Attendee: "This is about my 4th auto show in the last 4 or 5 years, and this year just seems a lot more exciting, it just seems like a lot more fun this year."
If you did not make it to the auto show Saturday, that's OK, everybody has until next weekend to check out the newest vehicles and concepts at this year's North American International Auto Show.
Along with all the dream cars, you can also get a look at some pretty cool racing machines. Michigan State University students showcased the school's Formula SAE race car. They say the car can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just over 3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 120 miles per hour.
Elizabeth Carroll, MSU student: "It's an amazing learning experience. It's really nice to actually use what you learn in your classes and apply it to these cars and see a final project and be able to race it yourself. It's a lot of fun."
MSU students designed, built and will race the Formula car. They say they're a force to be reckoned with. Last year the school placed 9th out of 142 in international competition.
